About Peter Castle

Spending time in many different organizations and providing technical direction to a team of engineers has taught me that being an effective Network Engineer comes down to the interactions you have with people, gaining a clearer perpective of a larger ecosystem. From customer values, to application architecture and data modeling, allowing myself to be in tune with requirements outside of a network protocol stack has meant outcomes of greater customer, team and personal satisfaction. Networking with people is as important to me as networking with systems.Though primarily working with Cisco routing and switching I remain vendor agnostic and have a high level of exposure to a range of Enterprise and ISP systems, architecture models and tools.Most notably:• Cisco SD-WAN (vEdge and IOS-XE)• Cisco Routing / Switching (Catalyst, ISR, ASR)• Cisco NX-OS Nexus 9k - Datacentre Switching - Leaf + Spine• Aruba and Cisco Wireless LAN• Palo Alto Firewalls• F5 LTM• AWS, Azure, GCP• Various last mile and DCI access technologies such as xDSL, Ethernet MAN, L2TP LAC, DWDMPlus copious amounts of the fundamental knowledge that allows all this to be managed effectively such as Linux and windows systems, DNS, Python and bits of other languages, interpreting pcaps, Solarwinds Orion and other monitoring and management tools
