About Peter Cooney

Peter Cooney is an Electrical Engineer over twenty years of electric utility and industrial manufacturing experience. Peter has been with Hydro One since 2021, and currently leads the Distribution Asset Management team for Electrification & Future Grid Planning. He was previously Senior Manager of the Reliability & Analytics team with a focus on Reliability Performance Reporting for both Transmission and Distribution systems. Prior to Hydro One, Peter held both and Engineering and Leadership roles at Toronto Hydro from 2011-2021 in System Planning, Power Quality & Reliability, and System Studies & DER Connections teams. Peter also worked at GE Energy from 2002-2011 as a Field Service Engineer, where he was primarily responsible for designing, commissioning, and troubleshooting control systems for heavy industrial applications internationally. Peter holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Queens University, and has been a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario since 2008. In his spare time, Peter volunteers his time as an amateur photographer, plays competitive tennis and is an avid cyclist.
