About Peter Cunningham

I have over a decade of teaching experience where I have taught at schools from England to Ontario Canada. Over the past 10 plus years I have incorporated a vast array of knowledge about the International IB curriculum, Ontario’s Curriculum, New York States Curriculum and Buckinghamshire England’s Curriculum! Teaching at a variety of school boards has helped me gather a great deal of experience and adopt many useful skills for the most effective teaching and learning practices available. In addition, I am extremely tech savvy and this skill has allowed me to use and teach technology inside the classroom. From Microsoft Word, Google Docs to Smart-boards and Apps like Canva, I have acquired a great deal of skills and familiarity with educational technology. I am good with numbers and enjoy teaching mathematics using strategies I have picked up along the way. Such strategies include The Box Method for mathematics, a strategy that I don’t see other teachers using. Moreover, I am a competitor by nature and enjoy many team sports including hockey, basketball as well as Mixed Martial Arts, MMA in which I am an active competitor. Most recently, I took second place in a grappling tournament and I have two more competitions upcoming in the New Year, one in January and the next in February. I love my job as an educator but I do think I could be an asset both inside or out of the classroom. My previous experiences have given me the opportunity to view how a variety of schools and school boards work and this has given me a brand new perspective on effective teaching and classroom management. I hope to find a place of employment where I can be of value and I don’t want to limit this to just teaching inside a classroom! Although, I am considered old in the sport, I am still able to hang with the young men I train with regularly. Some personal goals of mine include competing in a MMA bout in the next 2 years, ideally before I turn 42 as it requires intense training, I want to ensure my skills and technique are up to par and I am also in top physical condition!
