About Peter Curtis

Peter Curtis was appointed as Executive Advisor to the company in July 2023, to focus on decarbonization efforts and business development, after serving as Chief Commercial Officer since June 2020, focussing on business development. He was appointed as Seaspan Corporation's EVP and Chief Commercial & Technical Officer in March 2018, focusing on business opportunities, new build programs, major CAPEX projects and emerging technical challenges being faced in the marine industry. Prior to this, in July 2017 he was promoted to EVP and was the Chief Operating Officer since February 2012 when he was responsible for ship building programs, overall operations and commercial management of the fleet. Mr. Curtis serves on the board of directors of North England P&I Assoc. since 2012 and on the board of directors of the International Shipowners Alliance of Canada. From 2001 to 2012, he was VP of Seaspan Ship Management Ltd (SSML), the management operation formed in He joined in 2001 to lead and initiate the build up of the management company. Prior to joining Seaspan, Mr. Curtis was based in Cyprus from to 2001 with Columbia Ship Management as Technical Director. From 1991 to Mr. Curtis was with Safmarine, responsible for the operations of a mixed fleet of container ships, handy-size and cape-size bulk carriers and oversaw a number of new building programs. From 1989 to 1991, he was an associate with a firm of engineering and marine consultants in Cape Town, working on offshore and naval architectural projects, such as offshore energy, naval and commercial marine projects. From 1981 to 1989, Mr. Curtis served in the South African Navy, where he attained the rank of Lt. Commander, in charge of the submarine maintenance facility and design office after four years at sea in submarines. In 1981, he read for a B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering at Natal University in Durban, South Africa. He subsequently read for a M.Sc. Naval Architecture in 1987 at University College in London, England and for a Batchelor Business Administration degree from Stellenbosch University in South Africa in
