In January, 2021 I was elected as the Education and Organization Officer in the Central Region Office (Ottawa) of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW). Central Region has about workers in 32 locals. I oversee internal and external union organizing, and administering the CUPW education program, in the region. I also represent members in short-term and long-term disability and workers' compensation claim appeals. Former National Grievance Officer for the Canadian Union of Postal Workers from May 2015-2019. Located in Ottawa, our office represented workers. Responsible for grievance arbitration, health and safety, pensions and benefits and consultation. Formerly Regional Grievance Officer in the Central Region Office (Ottawa) of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) from 2008-2015. Central Region has about workers in 32 locals. Represented workers in grievance arbitration, primarily policy grievances, with my primary role being representation of workers in dismissal hearings in the formal arbitration process. Since 1997 I have also performed extensive work in workers' compensation advocacy at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) Appeals Resolution Officer (ARO) level and Ontario Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT.) Extensive experience in consultation, mediation and return to work/duty to accommodate processes. Experienced in collective bargaining. Represents CUPW at Canadian Industrial Relations Board, Canadian Health and Safety Tribunal,Human Resources Social Development Canada Referee and Canadian Human Rights Tribunal hearings.
