As a Group Leader with a PhD in Biochemistry, I have over nine years of industry experience, specialising in the generation and characterisation of antibodies and proteins. My career is marked by a dedication to excellence, a results-focused approach, and an ongoing quest for learning. My journey through roles of increasing responsibility has been fuelled by my adaptability, rigorous work ethic, and proactive approach to overcoming challenges. I worked at UCB for 7 years. For the first 1.5 years I was working on the characterisation of multiple therapeutic agents the company aimed to commercialise. I then moved into the early pipeline development, with a focus on the humanisation of antibodies with a strong emphasis on the use of molecular biological techniques, antibody expression and molecule developability. I obtained my PhD from Manchester University, my project focused on the food pathogen Campylobacter jejuni and in particular a lone cytochrome P450 which is found in its genome. Through a wide variety of techniques, covering both in vivo and in vitro work, I aimed to understand its role within the bacterium. I am also highly involved in public engagement and have been awarded funds from the Manchester Beacon to manage and run my own events. I have sat on the British Science Association Manchester and Thames Valley branch committees.
