About Peter Every

Peter is a Principal Lecturer at Coventry University. Previously an Associate Head of Department for Computing. He graduated with a First in Communication Studies in 1995 and obtained an MA with Distinction in Media and Cultural theory (post '68 European philosophy) in 1996, both at Coventry University. Prior to that he completely failed a Linguistics Degree at Lancaster University for reasons. After teaching in both the Communication studies and Information Design departments at Coventry he moved to his present post in September Peter co-ordinated the DfEE funded National Information Design Network from 1996 until His current interest is technology induced cultural change and the social formations emerging from online social networks, surveillance culture and private lives lived in public - in particular, the seeming evacuation of shared history and politics and its replacement by irony and cat videos. in 2011 he completed an iPED Research scholarship investigating the usability of discussion forums in an academic context and more recently has engaged in investigating the use of social networking in teaching and learning. He was a founder member of the Interactive Worlds Applied Research Group He is a passionate believer in the internationalization of HE curricula. Simply put, bright people need to start working together to avert collective global self-destruction. For a so-called 'Computer Scientist' he doesn't half make a lot of art - mostly sound based.
