Background
About Peter Falcon
I’ve built my career at the intersection of mental health, athletics, and human performance—helping athletes and clients push past barriers, build confidence, and thrive both on and off the field. My journey started long before my counseling career. I ran Division I track and cross country for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (Go Big Red!) from 2007–2012 and continued competing semi-professionally after college, ultimately running a 2:19:51 marathon, just shy of the U.S. Olympic Trials qualifying standard. Those years taught me more than how to train hard—they taught me the power of mindset, resilience, and belief in yourself. Today, I bring that same mindset to my work as an Athletic Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Therapist, Mental Performance Coach, and Head Cross Country & Track and Field Coach at Spring Lake Park High School. I’m licensed to practice mental health therapy in Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin, and currently reside in the Twin Cities area. Throughout my career, I’ve provided counseling and performance support in both Nebraska and Minnesota, working in a variety of mental health clinics, sport psych based practices, and collegiate settings with athletes of all backgrounds. My background includes serving as a mental health therapist and athletic counselor at institutions such as Creighton University and Iowa Western Community College, where I’ve helped student-athletes navigate performance pressures, personal challenges, and transitions in sport and life. With over a decade of experience, I specialize in blending evidence-based clinical counseling with sport performance strategies to help athletes and clients optimize performance, build resilience, and grow as individuals. I hold a B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska–Omaha, and an M.S. Certification in Sport Counseling & Student Athlete Mental Wellness from PennWest California. I’m also close to obtaining my CMPC (Certified Mental Performance Consultant) credential through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), further enhancing my ability to support athletes from both the mental performance and clinical care sides. I’m passionate about helping people tap into their full potential—whether they’re chasing personal records, rebuilding confidence, or navigating the pressures of competition and life. My mission is simple: to help others become stronger, more resilient versions of themselves—both on and off the field, and beyond.
