About Peter Fehnel

My experience in the public and private sectors provides me with a unique perspective that allows me to excel in my position. Throughout my career in business, in the military as intelligence officer, and now with the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), I have been provided with opportunities as a team member and leader in all aspects of the respective businesses and organizations. In these roles, I have managed both union and non-union employees. I enjoy the collegiality and collaboration of working in teams, meeting deadlines, and carrying out the mission of the company. As the Supervisory Economic Development Specialist, Branch Manager, and the District Veterans Officer, my responsibilities include the development and implementation of key strategic objectives, priorities, and policies of the New York District Office (NYDO), the largest market served by the SBA. Temporarily assigned to the SBA Office of Disaster Assistance (ODA), as part of the disaster detail in October 2017, in support of recovery efforts from hurricanes Irma and Maria. I was assigned to the U.S. Virgin Islands, Saint Thomas and Saint John’s, where I processed and submitted business and personal disaster loan applications along with being responsible for acquiring and processing personal and business tax transcripts from the Island Revenue Bureau (IRB) for disaster loan application. As the President of a company, I was responsible for the planning, directing, managing, evaluating, and coordinating all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the business. In the ongoing development of the business, I lead the change in the business’ structure, operations, and practices. I evaluated the procedures and processes, by implementing lean 6 policies to champion change, lead effectively, and grow efficiently. I developed and established the standardization of logistic processes and shipping to over 80 countries. While serving in the Army, I participated in and lead teams in meeting assignments, assigned from; Presidential directives, the National Command Authority, and the J2 of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for which I received significant recognition for my work which included evaluating, establishing and administrating a camp for holding Cuban refugees in the Republic of Panama, writing the Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB) for the deployment of twenty-five thousand troops to Bosnia and Kosovo and coordinating security for the Russian Presidential Election.
