I am a Logistics professional with +25 years of experience working for international companies. Started as a forwarding & warehouse specialist in the ports of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. In that role I worked for companies trading commodities on the exchange in London and with processors to fulfill the daily supply of cocoa beans to their factories.From 2008 to 2022 I managed the logistics operations for US companies trading internationally. At Bausch & Lomb I managed the shipping from their DC for the eye health care & pharma business. I identified saving opportunities and implemented the changes such as improving the daily line haul to Spain resulting in a significant cost saving of 70% or EUR 300k/a. At EFI I managed the 3PL's for the Inkjet business including end-to-end logistics of industrial printers, inks and spare parts. The RFQ’s I initiated for our spare parts business in EMEA and APAC have resulted in cost savings for the company of 25%. I this role I reported to managers in the US and in Spain and I remotely managed teams in Europe.In my personal life I like going to rock concerts with my wife and we enjoy being outdoors for example on the beach. On our holidays we go camping, hiking and snowboarding. And I like reading books. I go running 3 times a week. In November 2021 I ran the 'Berenloop' marathon on the island of Terschelling. The weather conditions were very challenging with hard wind and lots of rain. A couple of times I almost gave up but in the end I still finished the 42km in 3 hours and 42 minutes. It was my 5th marathon since 2016 and probably the toughest. In 2017 we purchased a plot of land in a rural area where we are had a full-electric sustainable new home built for us and our cats. Early 2019 we moved in. Very nice to have the beach only 4 km away. We very much enjoy our escape to the country!Since January 2023 I am a happy member of the Royal Smilde Bakery family. Since 1863 we produce tasty foods that are both healthy and safe.
