About Peter Finocchio

I’m an energized leader and team member with extensive experience in communications, policy, research, and legislative affairs, with a career focus on comprehensive political, governmental, and corporate management to include data analysis, operations, communications and compliance. I have a depth of experience on political messaging, competitive election campaigns, and public policy, along with a passion for improving my community and country. Born in Wayne, NJ–a suburban town just 20 miles from New York City– I moved south for college and attended the University of Virginia, where I majored in History and Government. As a College Republican volunteer and eventually Chairman, I immersed myself in Virginia and national politics. Since graduating, I’ve worked on more than two dozen political campaigns, including serving as longtime campaign manager for then-Delegate Glenn Davis and managing the successful 2020 reelection campaign of Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer. My professional work in political communications began in my service as Communications Director for Craig Parisot’s Delegate campaign–the closest race in Virginia during the 2015 cycle. I then served as War Room Director for the National Republican Senatorial Committee in 2016, Hampton Roads Regional Field Director for Ed Gillespie’s gubernatorial campaign in 2017, and both Regional Political Director and Deputy Statewide Field Director on Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker’s landslide 2018 reelection campaign, before finding my way back to the Commonwealth. I eventually returned to the northeast to manage Mike Lawler’s 2022 congressional campaign in NY-17, unseating 10-year incumbent and sitting Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Sean Patrick Maloney and giving both the Clinton and Soros families a Republican Representative in their home district. After that, I transitioned to the “official side,” serving as Congressman-elect Lawler’s Transition Aide during New Member Orientation and Congressman Lawler’s Communications Director throughout the 118th Congress. In January 2025, I served on both the media operations and communications teams of the 60th Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC). In February, I returned to my roots in Virginia politics to join Governor Youngkin’s Office as Press Secretary. In my free time, other than catching up on sleep, I enjoy running, hiking, reading, and catching up with friends.
