About Peter Frise

I help municipalities across Ontario navigate the province’s complex property tax and municipal finance framework. My focus is on developing locally sensitive, practical policy solutions that reflect each community’s goals, preferences, and challenges. By combining deep subject matter expertise with strategic insight and a strong appreciation for municipal realities, I deliver approaches that build trust and achieve results. Throughout my career, I have worked to bridge the gap between provincial policy and municipal implementation. Prior to joining MTE in 2002, I served as a Senior Economist with the Ontario Ministry of Finance, where I led and supported the development of regulations, tax statutes, and administrative practices that remain foundational today. I continue to engage extensively with the municipal sector, ensuring that local perspectives and priorities inform policy decisions. My academic background in Political Science, with an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a Master of Arts from McMaster University, provided me with a strong foundation in public policy, analysis, and research. That foundation continues to inform my work every day.
