About Peter Gibb

I have 30+ years professional experience comprising several senior management and project-related positions in the environment, maritime and waste sectors, including my current Head of Environment role for Port of Melbourne Operations and my previous senior management roles for the former Port of Melbourne Corporation and the Twigg Group (now Cleanaway). Reporting to the Executive General Manager Operations, I am responsible for the planning, management and delivery of environmental approvals, contaminated land management programs and remediation activities across ~500ha of port land. I am also responsible for obtaining long-term dredging approvals and managing environmental compliance programs, as well as delivering dredging improvement projects to deliver significant CAPEX savings. I have also previously managed several teams of people responsible for the port’s maritime security, safety, marine pollution, business resilience, emergency response and operational risk management functions. Prior to joining the Port of Melbourne I was Environment Manager for the Twigg Group, responsible for the planning, environmental management and regulatory reporting at the Twigg Group landfills, composting facilities, transfer stations and soil yards. In 2007 Transpacific Industries Group (Cleanaway) purchased the Twigg Group and I also became responsible for the planning and delivery of environmental management programs at several TPI/Baxter Group waste facilities in Victoria. Prior to joining the Twigg Group I completed over 10+ years environmental consulting and contracting experience in Melbourne and the UK. I worked at Major Projects Victoria to assist with the planning and environmental approvals for the then-proposed Nowingi Long Term Containment Facility and I was Environment Manager for the Transfield-Obayashi Joint Venture (TOJV) during the construction of the AUS$2bn Melbourne CityLink project (Southern Link).
