About Peter Hamar
My major scientific interest is to understand the function and pathophysiologic role of small RNAs in vivo with the help of rodent models. A major roadblock to harnessing small RNSs for therapy is delivery to targeted cells, and to the appropriate intracellular compartment with nanomedical formulations. We thus, study different delivery methods. Besides being a PI at Semmelweis, I intensely collaborate with the Immune Disease Institute at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. In this collaboration, we were first to harness RNA-interference (RNAi) for the kidney in 2003. Our present interest is focusing on the pathomechanisms of ischemia induced renal fibrosis.
