About Peter Han

Peter Han is an experienced High School Teacher from Assets High School, Honolulu, Hawaii. Obtaining his B.S. and M.A. degrees in Mathematics in 2015. While teaching at Assets High School, Peter also became a certified teacher in Mathematics 6-12 through the M.Ed.T. program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Peter has 10 years of teaching experience (as of 2024) in the HAIS and is certified to teach: Math, Physics, and Computer Science in Grades 9-12. He is currently teaching four different classes: AP Calculus AB, College Algebra, Algebra 1/2, and ICS. Peter's goal is to expand STEM opportunities to all students. In 2019, Peter presented at the Schools Of The Future Conference to assist teachers across the State in teaching pedagogy of utilizing technology to increase student interest in classrooms. Peter runs the after-school Robotics Program (launched in 2018) in: FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), while assisting with the FIRST Lego League (FLL) as a referee and an event volunteer. Peter's robotics program has grown from 5-10 students to nearly 50 participants in 2022, which is about 1/3 of the Assets High School population. In 2023, the Assets School FTC Team was able to compete and participate in the FIRST World Championship. Peter's robotics teams are now self-sustaining as students generate funds themselves to keep the robotics program active, while his students are now starting to mentor and assist other teams and schools that need the support. Peter also recently joined FIRST as an FTC program delivery partner in hopes of expanding FIRST Robotics opportunities and providing assistance for schools that can benefit through STEM programs.
