About Peter Hauwert

Natural communicator with a technical background (chemistry & process technology), trying to make a positive contribution to the world, working together with other driven people. New technologies are the key to tackling climate change, and this requires both fundamental research, technology development and industrial implementation. Having worked in R&D in the oil & gas industry, I am currently applying my experience in new technologies that will be a part of the solution the climate change problem. Upon a solid background in chemistry (MSc organic chemistry, PhD homogeneous catalysis), I have expanded my horizon towards chemical engineering, developing various technologies in natural gas treatment (e.g. CO2 removal, sulfur recovery, small scale GTL, high pressure methanation) and supercritical water gasification of watery biomass. Besides the technical aspects I have gained experience in project management, in which my positive energy and result-oriented approach bring people together towards achieving a common goal. As an eager communicator I enjoy writing and presenting my work, either in a scientific environment or in a commercial context. People who worked with me would describe me as enthusiastic, knowledgeable and creative. In daily practice, I bring the overview of what needs to be done, a well-structured plan to achieve the goals, a cooperative way of working and the drive to ensure that what is agreed gets done. I have always enjoyed learning about new topics and meeting new people. With the challenges ahead of us in making our planet energy- and CO2-neutral within 30 years, I believe that attitude is much needed.
