About Peter Hird

My career began with the family business, Peter Hird & Sons, a plant hire company based in the UK that was founded in 1983. The company celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2023 and has become well-established in the industry. In 2009, I co-founded Compact Lifting Equipment, which later evolved into the Compact Lifting Group of companies. This business focused on providing innovative lifting solutions and was successfully sold in 2021. In 2015, together with Ben Windass, I launched Blokcam, a company dedicated to supplying the crane sector with high-quality crane cameras. Blokcam quickly gained a reputation for its innovative products, and in 2021, we sold the business to The Crosby Group. Crosby, a brand trusted for over 130 years, is the world’s leading manufacturer of rigging, lifting, and material handling applications. Known for its uncompromising quality, Crosby provides a comprehensive portfolio of products designed to meet the toughest demands across various industries, including energy, construction, marine, and transportation. In a significant industry development, Crosby merged with Kito to form Kito Crosby. This merger strengthened our market position, bringing together the best of both companies to offer unmatched solutions in lifting and material handling. I am proud to be a shareholder in this KKR & Co. Inc. portfolio business, contributing to its continued growth and success.
