PETER A. KARL CPA and Attorney, is a member of the law firm of Paravati, Karl, Green & DeBella, LLP in Utica. Karl, an honors graduate of the University of Notre Dame, has conducted over two hundred and fifty seminars nationally and has authored several manuals on the subject of taxation. Sponsoring organizations for his seminars include numerous professional associations from Atlanta to Alaska such as solo sixteen hour presentations before the North Dakota Society of CPAs over two days in October 2012 and the Iowa CPA Society in October 2013. The CPA Journal has published thirteen of his works (the “20 Question” series) as featured articles including a cover story one on the topic of Elder/Estate Planning and another in their September 2013 Financial Planning issue on the use of Delaware Trusts for asset protection. He is the author of an informational web site on IRC Section 1031 exchanges, Since 1989 Karl has been on the faculty of New York University (NYU) where he has periodically presented eight hour seminars for their National Real Estate Institute. He is also tenured as a Professor of Taxation and Law for the State University of New York (SUNY). For the past seven years Karl has been a member of the Editorial Board of the CPA Journal. He is also certified as a Hearing Neutral by the American Arbitration Association, conducting arbitration hearings on commercial matters throughout the Northeast. Karl is a member of the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants for whom he served as an at large Board Member. Besides specializing in transactional law, his practice includes tax/legal consultations to realtors, accountants and attorneys throughout the country in such areas as Section 1031 deferred real estate exchanges, estate/trust planning and asset protection.
