Background

About Peter Kiesewalter

Peter Kiesewalter is the NYC-based composer and producer behind the new multimedia show The Moth Project, the GRAMMY nominated and Emmy Award winning East Village Opera Company (Decca/Universal Records) and Brooklyn Rundfunk Orkestrata’s song for song adaptation of the iconic musical “The Sound of Music” (titled “the Hills Are Alive”) – a project for which he received the much publicized blessing and support of the notoriously protective Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization. His prolific composition and arranging work (Film, TV, Theater, and commissions) balances formal classical and jazz studies with decades worth of experience performing and writing in many popular music idioms. He was the resident House Composer at ABC Television from scoring hundreds of features and segments for Monday Night Football, 20/20, Primetime, and countless documentaries for A&E, the History Channel, and Bravo networks. For Disney he scored 4 seasons of “Book Of Pooh” and 2 seasons of “Bear in the Big Blue House.” His compositions and arrangements have been commissioned by arts institutions around the world including New York City Opera, the National Arts Centre Orchestra of Canada, the Public Theatre NYC, the Peacock Theatre in London’s West End, and the David Parsons Dance Company. He was recently nominated as Producer of the Year by the IMA (independent Music Awards) for his production work on the iconic songwriter Jane Siberry’s album “Ulysses Purse.” His most recent theatrical score for Shaolin Monks – traditional Chinese music with Techno/EDM beats and production - debuted at the Peacock Theater in London’s West End in 2018.
