About Peter Kovacs

Peter joined Rogers’ Regulatory group in 1996. He has been involved in the launch of a variety of new products and services, including Digital Cable, HD television, video-on-demand (VOD), Sportsnet PPV, emergency alerting, shomi, IPTV (the groundbreaking Xfinity TV!) and Xfinity Streaming. He also provides support for the integration of acquired cable systems across the country and is responsible for providing policy guidance concerning Rogers' broadband traffic management practices. Peter was part of the teams that successfully obtained the CRTC’s approval in March 2022 to acquire Shaw Communications Inc.(the transaction, one of the largest in Canadian history, closed April 3, 2023) and five digital specialty service licences in including The Biography Channel and G4TechTV. Prior to joining Rogers, he worked at Canwest Global and in the investment banking sector. Peter has a Bachelor (1991) and a Master in Business Administration (1995) from the Ivey Business School at Western University. Specialties: Peter has extensive knowledge of the Canadian broadcasting industry. He joined the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) Canada in and has remained actively involved in the organization. Peter was elected to the 2012 Board of Directors and served a two-year term as Co-Chair Education. He is an avid mountain biker, snow boarder and guitar player.with a deep love of music, the great outdoors and family.
