About Peter Krysiak

As legal counsel, I respond to inquiries from various City departments and provide opinions dealing with matters of risk or concern to the City. This includes advising the departments on the law and its implications for legislative, policy and operational functions. In this role, I also provide advice to reduce liability and protect the interests of the City, as well as participate in the development and implementation of strategies to protect its interests and reduce exposure to legal risks. I also assist in developing policies and implementing procedural changes to conform to new legislation. This involves negotiating, preparing and reviewing agreements for service delivery, project implementation and operational requirements. As part of the litigation aspect of this position, I handle claims and settlements. In addition, I advocate for the City before courts, arbitrators and tribunals including the Ontario Municipal Board, the Human Rights Tribunal, the Information Privacy Commission and the Assessment Review Board.
