About Peter Kyte

I’m Peter Kyte, founder of The Kyte Group. For over 20 years, I’ve been creating experiences that use light, sound, and media to transform spaces and bring people together. At The Kyte Group, we specialize in designing immersive lighting and media installations for live events, public spaces, and architectural environments. Our work lives at the intersection of technology and storytelling—helping cities, institutions, and developers build places that feel alive, connected, and full of possibility. This work is personal. I’ve always been driven by the power of design to inspire connection and create impact. Whether lighting a historic landmark or curating a visual experience for a one-night event, I see each project as an opportunity to strengthen community and elevate public life. We collaborate with AV teams, architects, cultural institutions, and city builders to: • Design and consult on large-scale lighting and video installations • Reimagine civic and public spaces through technology • Support community-focused events with creative technical direction • Develop interactive environments that invite people in Some of the projects I’m most proud of have been right here in Detroit—working with organizations that are helping reimagine what this city can be: • The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy • Detroit Institute of Arts • Downtown Detroit Partnership • Michigan Central Station Homecoming • DLECTRICITY • The Henry Ford Museum And beyond Detroit, I’ve had the honor of working on extraordinary experiences like the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party and the Mercedes-Benz CES Keynote—projects that pushed boundaries and inspired millions.
