About Peter Lake
I enjoy the challenge of taking a complex physical system, developing simple models to explain the relevant phenomena, and applying these models to make generalized predictions. These models can vary from pen and paper math, to writing my own code, to using software packages depending on the type of problem I am tackling. My work has ranged from studying nuclear chemistry in graduate school to my current research in molecular dynamics simulations of biological systems as a postdoctoral fellow. Regardless of the system at hand, my expertise are in developing mathematical models and computer algorithms to create predictive tools. Two recent papers that capture the scope of my work are my work developing an implicit solvent model for simulations, https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.jctc.7b00698, and my work on coarse-graining proteins to study allostery, https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.jctc.9b01149.
