About Peter Lepsch

Mr. Lepsch represents clients with a range of advocacy interests including those related to native American tribal governments especially jurisdiction and sovereignty. He counsels on regulatory compliance and reform, litigates before courts and government agencies; provides government and political affairs representation. Much of his practice focuses on the Administrative Procedures Act. Recently, his work includes 8a businesses, industrial hemp regulations, CARES ACT and the Paycheck Protection Program representation, consultative advice to companies doing business in Indian country, as well as business development and legislative advocacy concerning cannabis.For more than a decade he's consulted on rule of law, democracy, and governance worldwide especially in nations in conflict or emerging democracies. He reviews constitutions and governance structures, and legal frameworks especially as related to democratic institutions including electoral administration and disputes. He regularly provides direct technical assistance to foreign governments on obligations under public international law including human rights. He provides expertise on election law and electoral administration to American and international stakeholders including the U.S State Department, the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, foreign governments, and non-governmental organizations. Mr. Lepsch is well-known on international electoral justice matters in both administrative and adjudicatory settings. For more than a decade, Mr. Lepsch has provided technical assistance to government officials in numerous countries including Afghanistan, Bougainville (PNG), Cambodia, Libya, and Pakistan. Mr. Lepsch has also managed and supervised implementer programs with dozens of staff and multi-million dollar budgets.Prior to earning a law degree, he was involved in over 50 local, state, and federal elections as a consultant and worked for more than a year in the United States Senate. He holds a Masters degree in Justice, Law and Society as well as an American law degree. Licensed in New York State, District of Columbia; State of Oregon; admitted in several US District Courts (SDNY, EDNY, NDNY, DDC), the US Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, 2nd Circuit, and 9th Circuit, US Supreme Court.
