About Peter MacNaughton

I am driven by a desire to achieve the best outcomes for communities and end users through innovative impactful design and procurement. ‘Impossible!’ was a tutor's response to me setting out to design, fund and build Eastern Kenya's first Deaf secondary school while in my second year of Architecture School. 7 years later the team I built has proved him wrong. We have given Deaf teenagers in Eastern Kenya access to specialist full board education in spaces tailored to their needs; Extra diffuse light, reduced visual noise and extra to facilitate signed communication. ‘Impossible’ is just something nobody has worked out how to do yet. Since that project I have enjoyed working on a wide variety of projects in different practice and cultural contexts. I have led projects up to £24m in value across all RIBA stages & worked on projects up to £200m+ in various sectors. Through my professional and educational experience, I have discovered that: I can deliver projects at all RIBA stages in multiple sectors from £40K-£200m. • I put product & quality at the heart of all I do, • I maximise process efficiency planning mine & others work carefully to achieve results. • I communicate clearly, confidently and persuasively to clients, colleagues and consultants. • I will go the extra mile to create and preserve strong design concepts. • I am calm in a crisis and prioritise well. I can create, lead and grow project teams from 2-82 • I find joy in helping teammates excel and grow • I know my limits & bring in expert input when needed • I like using data to plan & execute projects • I'm interested in learning from other sectors about team management & culture change I advocate for good design and practice • I am passionate about driving forward the sustainability agenda • I confidently speak up when I see opportunities to improve in practice or on projects • I am entrepreneurial, always looking for ways to innovate and do things differently • I value community and end-user design engagement as an important design process.
