About Peter Maramaldi

As an Endowed Professor at Simmons University School of Social Work and an Adjunct Professor at Harvard School of Public Health in Social and Behavioral Science, I have been leading interdisciplinary research and teaching initiatives in the areas of children, youth, and families; gerontology; mental health; and healthcare delivery for over 20 years. During my graduate work at Columbia University in New York City, I earned a PhD in Behavioral Science, an MPhil in Arts and Sciences, an MPH in Health Policy and Management, and an MSSW in Clinical Social Work. More recently, I also gained advanced training and earned certificates in negotiation from the Harvard Law School and higher education management at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In addition, I have more than 35 years of successful clinical counseling and psychotherapy practice experience with individuals and groups. I am also a Clinical Instructor in Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where I train pre and post-doctoral dental students and faculty on how to address the psychosocial and behavioral needs of older adults and their caregivers. In addition, I work as an independent consultant, providing organizational and behavioral science expertise to healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and community agencies. My work has been consistently funded through NIH and foundation grants; I've published widely in peer-reviewed journals and books and delivered papers, speeches, and workshops at national and international conferences. I am committed to advancing interprofessional collaboration, cross-cultural communication, and evidence-based practice in healthcare settings and empowering students, professionals, and patients to achieve their goals.
