About Peter Marcellino

Currently I am studying Quantative Computational FInance at Georgia Tech. In 2015 I graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a mechanical engineering degree, following which I worked as a process engineer at W L Gore for over 3 years. I am sincerely interested in transitioning into finance because of my analytical skills, and my passion for creative problem solving. In my work as an engineer, I have found myself drawn to the type of analysis and thought processes, useful in finance. I completed a course called Certificate in Quantitative Finance. This course is a rigorous, 2 semester, 6 month course, by Paul Wilmott, with multiple exams and a final project. I found that it greatly furthered my enthusiasm for the field, while simultaneously exposing me to various aspects of the quantitative financial industry. In order to further my skills and education in this area I am currently enrolled at Georgia Tech. I have a strong interest in learning, and the ability to do so quickly. Despite working on a team of mostly chemical engineers at a fluoropolymer company, I have been able to quickly make myself knowledgeable in relevant material, and am frequently consulted by my colleagues for advice on important technical issues. I find I truly enjoy solving problems, from writing VBA(Visual Basic for Applications) code to create simple tools, to designing a new test fixture, or simply working with operators to define new procedures. I am extremely interested in the possibility of employment with in the financial sector, and would greatly appreciate an opportunity to pursue this position.
