About Peter Martinez

I am hard-working, genuine, and reliable. I completed most of my education while working full-time in a non-academic job while supplementing my income as an Adjunct Instructor beginning in 2013. Through my research, I utilize new approaches in exploring subaltern communities while considering how power is exercised both by the "haves" and the "have-nots." Often times, these power struggles lead to direct competition between subaltern communities, despite the fact that they ultimately maintain similar long-term goals. As an instructor, I encourage students to explore history through multiple perspectives while trying to understand how history has affected our society and will continue to influence our future. I want my students to understand that history is not about memorizing information, but instead historians gain information to build arguments and gain deeper understanding.
