Technical Author and documentation process management in an open source context, with the main software pieces being GNU Linux, Kubernetes, Cilium Kubernetes CNI, and eBPF. Primary use cases are networking, network security, and network observability. Beyond the ability to dive deep into complexity, I maintain an awareness of the bigger picture in terms implementing procedural changes with the goal of improving efficiency and quality of documentation. Advise on all documentation efforts in an organization consisting of multiple teams, encompassing a total of approximately 200 software engineers. Make documentation practice an integral part of the software development process. This involves educating developers on how to insert themselves into the writing process. It also makes the Writer role less reactionary and more proactive, to the point of influencing new software features. This results in more accurate documentation and allows developers to work without interruption (as the raw documentation is already provided, and at their own time). Write procedural specifications for how all this is done. Give practical writing workshops to engineers at in-person events.
