About Peter McNamara

An enthusiastic and committed professional, Peter McNamara is currently a Development Engineer at Moreton Bay Regional Council (MBRC). This opportunity has provided hands-on knowledge of current planning schemes, industry codes and regulations, technical skills and civil engineering experience. With a background in teaching and having been a mentor to teaching graduates and supervisor to undergraduates, Peter has enormous respect for the role practice-based opportunities provide in enhancing knowledge and the importance of ongoing professional development. His role as a student development engineer provided for both of these as he changed career paths, ultimately leading to a permanent role as part of the MBRC team in 2020. Since then, Peter has been combining engineering theory, analysis and problem-solving skills in his role, liaising with multiple stakeholders to deliver great outcomes in the Moreton Bay region while working with the human and technical challenges of real engineering situations. Many of Peter's skills were developed in the education sector, both in England and Australia. As an energetic, passionate and professional teacher of Maths and Science, Peter gained over 12 years of experience specialising in the development of technology rich learning opportunities and curriculum design, development & assessment. His ability to communicate, differentiate and convey his energy and passion for his fields enabled Peter to lead teams of specialist teachers across both primary and secondary schooling levels. Peter has a proven record as someone who possesses good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills. He is comfortable with responsibility, be it working individually, as a leader, or as a member of a team, and he enjoys setting and achieving goals to meet new challenges.
