About Peter Mueller

It is Peter Mueller’s passion to compete at the highest level. This competitive spirit that enabled him to become the 2014 United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) National Champion in the snowboard cross discipline led him to pursue one of the most sought after careers in the maritime industry, that of a deck officer in the United States Merchant Marine. In that pursuit, Mueller graduated from State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College in 2016. Achievements Mueller’s young compilation of competitive achievements has grown to include: USASA Overall Snowboard Cross Champion-Pro Division (2015) Empire State Winter Games Snowboard Cross Champion (2015) Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame Honoree (2015) USASA Snowboard Cross National Champion (2014) CLYC (Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club) Laser Fleet Captain (2012 & 2013) CLYC Head of Race Committee (2012) Industry Experience Prior to Enrolling to SUNY Maritime College Mueller worked for the Chautauqua Lake Association where he quickly rose up the ranks to a managerial position. In doing so he operated several limited tonnage vessels including weed harvesters and transport barges. While attending Maritime he participated in two 90 day training cruises comprised of learning the basics to shipboard operations. During his first class cruise he earned the position of Navigator. Upon graduating he accepted a Third Officer position with Military Sealift Command (MSC). Academic Qualifications Mueller attended West Virginia University from 2012-2013. He continued his education at SUNY Maritime College, where he appeared on the Admiral’s List every semester and was the recipient of the 2015 Hap Parnham Scholarship. Mueller graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Operations with Honors and United States Coast Guard (USCG) Third Mate License for vessels of unlimited tonnage upon oceans in 2016.
