About Peter Oksen

20 years’ professional experience within Environment, International Development, and Climate Change. I have worked several years in Academia, the Private Sector, and the Public Sector and have lived close to 10 years in developing countries. Have woked with several UN agencies including UN Environment, and the humanitarian UN organisation WFP in Rome implementing the corporate level environmental and social safeguard framework. Currently work for WIPO (also UN) implementing technology transfer and application of new technologies to climate change, food security, and environmental global chalenges. Creator, owner, and manager of the website telling real stories of successful sustainable initiatives and technologies. Extensive experience as researcher, technical expert, advisor, and manager e.g. for review, formulation, and evaluation of projects, programmes, and strategies. I have been involved in more than 30 consultant assignments within Environment, Socio-economic Development, Governance, Climate Change, and technology transfer- Climate Change: 10+ years’ experience. Adaptation & resilience research, technology transfer, action plans, financing, and policies- Environmental and Social Safeguards: 8+ years’ experience in ESIA, SEA, due diligence, impact monitoring, resettlement, minority groups etc- Rural Development: 15+ years’ experience in applied research in SE Asia and Africa. Livelihood, conservation, governance, agricultural development, resource degradation, and desertification- Strategy and policy analyses, development, and implementation. Donor programme review, formulation, management, monitoring, and evaluation- Teaching, Writing, and Review: 30+ publications, university teaching and supervision experience from BSc to PhD levels, peer-reviewer for scientific journals- International experience from Indonesia, Thailand, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Niger, Burkina Faso, and South Africa.
