About Peter Orszag

Peter R. Orszag is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Lazard, the preeminent global financial advisory and asset management firm. He has led the firm and served as a Board Director since October 2023. Prior to becoming Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Orszag was CEO of Financial Advisory, leading Lazard's advisory businesses serving companies and governments across the globe from April 2019 to September 2023. He was previously Head of North American Mergers & Acquisitions and Global Co-Head of Healthcare from July 2018 to June 2019. Dr. Orszag joined Lazard as Vice Chairman of Investment Banking in May 2016. Prior to Lazard, Dr. Orszag served as Vice Chairman of Corporate and Investment Banking and Chairman of the Financial Strategy and Solutions Group at Citi from January 2011 to January 2016. In the Obama Administration, Dr. Orszag served as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget from January 2009 to June 2010, and before that, as the Director of the Congressional Budget Office from January 2007 to November 2008. Between 2001 and 2007, he was a Senior Fellow and Deputy Director of Economic Studies at the Brookings Institution. Prior to this, Dr. Orszag lectured on macroeconomics at the University of California, Berkeley, between and During the Clinton Administration, Dr. Orszag served as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy in 1997 and 1998, and as Senior Economist and Senior Adviser on the Council of Economic Advisers from 1995 to 1996. Dr. Orszag is a member of the National Academy of Medicine of the National Academies of Sciences. He sits on the Board of Directors of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, Mount Sinai Hospital, and New Visions for Public Schools in New York. He graduated summa cum laude in Economics from Princeton University and obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from the London School of Economics, which he attended as a Marshall Scholar. Dr. Orszag is married to Bianna Golodryga of CNN.
