About Peter Ortiz

Peter Ortiz is a Columbia University-trained reporter and analyst whose extensive range of coverage includes regulatory and compliance issues, mutual funds, economics, politics, education, courts, police, Securities and Exchange Commission and Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act. From 2007 to 2016, Peter reported on the U.S. asset management/mutual fund industry for Ignites, an online, subscription-based publication renowned for its coverage of the sector and launched by Money-Media, a Financial Times-owned publication. And from 2016 to present, he has covered the Asia Pacific asset management industry for sister publication, Ignites Asia. Both positions require an understanding of a complex industry and being able to translate technical/legal/regulatory language and jargon to information that is easy to understand and educational for both newcomers to the industry and long-time veterans. Having worked at an online newsletter, monthly magazine and morning dailies, Peter is a subject matter expert (SME) on mutual funds, securities filings, diversity trends, the Latino community and immigration.
