About Peter Oshea

Following a degree in Electronic Engineering at University College Dublin, I commenced my career in 1987 as a Research Officer at Marchwood Engineering Laboratories outside Southampton with the Central Electricity Generating Board. Post privatisation of the electricity system in Britain I spent a short time with Power Gen UK before joining the National Grid Company (NGC). I held a number of positions at NGC in Systems Management, Project Management and Regulation and completed an MBA at Warwick University. I joined ESB in and oversaw the development of the electricity market in Ireland as ESB's Competition and Deregulation Manager. In 2006 following a short period as Financial Controller of ESB’s Power Generation business I took up the position of Chief Information Officer at ESB. After almost 5 years as CIO I was appointed to the position of Head of Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Strategy in September 2010 and in September 2018 took up the role of Head of Corporate and Regulatory Affairs. Outside of ESB, I served on the board of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce for 9 years and in 2020 I was elected as President of the Chamber. I have also served on the Board of the Electricity Association of Ireland and since 2021 have served as Chairman of the Board. I have been a member of the Advisory Board at the IERC since 2021 and I enjoyed three years as Chairman of Ballinteer St John’s GAA club.
