About Peter Rekawek

As a dedicated Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery resident at New York University/Bellevue Hospital Center, I am passionate about advancing my expertise in oral surgery and contributing to the field through research, clinical practice, and leadership.Throughout my training I have been recognized for contributions to the field, receiving awards such as the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) Scientific Oral Abstract Presentation Award on two occasions and the Academy of Osseointegration Implant Dentistry Award. My research experience spans various institutions, such as the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the University of Pennsylvania, and New York University, where I have focused on areas such as dental implant placement, peri-implantitis, and genomic regulation underlying cleft lip and palate.I have also contributed to numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, exploring topics like artificial intelligence in maxillofacial prognosis, the impact of COVID-19 on dental education, and the efficacy of minimally invasive implant surgery. My work has been presented at national conferences, reflecting my dedication to sharing knowledge and advancing the field.In addition to my academic and research pursuits, I have held numerous leadership roles throughout my time in dental school, medical school, and residency. These experiences have honed my skills in teamwork, communication, and leadership, enabling me to contribute effectively to multidisciplinary teams. I am always eager to connect with fellow professionals, share insights, and collaborate on innovative projects that improve patient outcomes.
