About Peter Rogers

Peter’s practice includes insurance law, commercial and securities litigation, municipal and other administrative law. His areas of special interest also include health law and constitutional law. Peter has extensive experience in municipal law in a wide variety of settings, including municipal taxation issues, planning and development appeals, expropriation, inter-municipal agreements, by-laws and governance, municipal conflicts of interest and Code of Conduct issues. He has acted for and against numerous municipalities. Peter has acted as counsel in over 30 court and tribunal cases concerning municipal or planning law at the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, the Nova Scotia Supreme Court and Court of Appeal and in the New Brunswick Court of Queen's Bench as well as in municipal arbitrations Peter’s practice in Administrative and Public law, Corporate and Commercial Litigation, Insurance law, and Personal Injury Litigation has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada since 2009. He is a Queen's Counsel. He has served on McInnes Cooper's Board of Directors. He has appeared before all levels of superior courts and appellate courts in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and in the supreme Court of Canada. His practice philosophy is centered around two themes: getting the correct analysis done early; and advising clients with candour about both the strengths and weaknesses of their position.
