About Peter Sandstedt

Initially, I thought I was going to be a high school math teacher and coach baseball. My career path veered in a drastically different direction. My first position was a procurement role for Northwestern University's IT department. I specialized in purchasing products and services to maintain and monitor the University's data center facilities. In 6.5 years, I added new responsibilities including vendor management, asset management, lifecycle management, and financial analysis. During my time at NU, I also earned a master's degree in communication to manage workplace complexities and enhance processes for new efficiencies. My employment at NU ended after I moved to Atlanta to marry my Wife. In March 2020, I joined HERE Technologies to support their IT asset management. My primary function was to oversee the disposal and relocation of IT capital assets for global office closures and moves. This was a complex process given most of the projects were international and needed local contractors to dispose of the equipment in an environmentally friendly manner. After a couple years at HERE Technologies, I joined Insight Global's Strategic Sourcing Department to specialize in IT vendor management. Also, I was tasked with implementing an automated SaaS License Administration Project for IG's 7 main job platform tools like Indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, etc. While I enjoyed vendor management, I missed the upstream parts of the sourcing process and wanted a more wholistic procurement role. When CRH asked me if I was interested in their category management role, it was exactly what I wanted. I'm now managing the corporate IT spend, executing contracts and renewals, and promoting procurement as part of the business. Personal Background - My favorite sport is baseball, I'm 31.25% Swedish, when house-hunting, I look at the backyard first, and for me - half the fun of the vacation is planning the vacation!
