Background

About Peter Schnall

With over 45 years of experience as a researcher, educator, and mentor in social epidemiology, I am passionate about documenting and addressing the impact of work stressors on mental and cardiovascular health outcomes. As a Professor Emeritus of Medicine at U. of California at Irvine, I have trained and collaborated with hundreds of students and colleagues in the field, and published multiple papers and books on the topic. Currently, I am the Director of the Center for Social Epidemiology, a nonprofit organization that aims to advance the knowledge and practice of social epidemiology through collaboration, advocacy, and education. Alongside Dr. Marnie Dobson, I am also a co-director of the Healthy Work Campaign, an initiative that provides workers, employers, and policymakers with the necessary resources, tools, and guidance to improve work quality and well-being. Our website is healthywork.org. My mission is to promote healthy work environments and policies that foster physical and mental health for all.
