About Peter Schultz

Peter joined the Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA) team as an Actuarial Analyst in August of 2010 and is currently Vice President, Actuarial & Underwriting Services. Peter is responsible for analyzing and evaluating group health and disability plans for MMA employer clients nationwide. He identifies and highlights trends in an employer’s data and recommends strategies for group benefit plans that allow them to best align benefit strategy with business goals. In this role Peter has also led and co-led several large projects, including the development of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Impact Analysis, Uniform Data Standards (UDS) Group network cost structure analysis, COVID-19 Employer Impact Analysis, and Transparency in Coverage Machine Readable Files Analysis. Peter leads day to day operations of the MMA Actuarial & Underwriting Department and works with other members of the department to develop actuarial tools and models to help assist clients and internal team members reach decisions both quickly and comfortably. These tools are used for MMA clients nationally for Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) Reserve analysis, Premium Equivalent Rate Development, Demographic Analysis, and Creditable Coverage Testing for Medicare Part D. Peter graduated in May of 2010 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double major in Mathematics and Economics. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries compliant with all professional development. He has also completed the following requirements for his FSA designation: Exams GH-DP, GH-FV, Health Economics Module, Health Foundations Module, ERM Module, and DMAC Module. Peter lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife, son and two dogs. He is also an active member in his local chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the MMA-Mid-Atlantic DE & I Council.
