About Peter Shapiro

As a Service Owner and Manager of Multimedia Technologies at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, I lead a mission-driven, multimedia-focused team that supports teaching, learning, and communication across the HGSE community. Over the past 10+ years, I’ve helped shape how our school approaches video, virtual collaboration, and digital accessibility—delivering solutions that are tech-forward, cost-effective, and people-centered. I structure my work around five key pillars: • Video Production • Video Conferencing • Accessibility (captions/transcription) • Video Digital Asset Management • Classroom Capture From leading our adoption of Zoom—well before the pandemic shifted us to remote work—to spearheading our cost-saving transition to Panopto, I focus on implementing tools that work now and scale for the future. I redesigned our production studio with cutting-edge 4K workflows, integrated live video feeds, and sunset outdated systems to improve both quality and efficiency. I’ve been proud to collaborate with faculty, staff, administration, and students alike, and share ideas with colleagues at other Harvard schools. My toolkit includes technologies like Zoom, Adobe Creative Suite, Panopto, and emerging Gen AI tools such as RunwayML, HeyGen, and Adobe Firefly—tools I use to innovate responsibly and creatively within higher education. I’m curious, collaborative, and always open to connecting with others who are passionate about the future of media, education, and technology.
