About Peter Sigurdson

As Strategic Partnerships Lead for FPInnovations in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Peter manages FPI's relationships with provincial governments in the region. Peter also has responsibility for building and maintaining partnerships with forest operations, wood products manufacturing, and pulp and paper companies in the region, and acts as the primary contact for regional research and deployment partnerships. Peter works with government and industry to plan forest management, product development, market research, and technology implementation projects - and then supervises the implementation of the projects. Current focus areas include digitalization, automation, renewable energy, forestry development planning, forest industry productivity, forest value chain optimization, Peter is also leading FPInnovations' Automated Scaling Major Project. The focus of that project is the development of a scanner-based log scaling system for capturing net merchantable volume of logs through the automated identification and measurement of surface indicators of defect. Prior to joining FPInnovations, Peter held leadership positions with Timberline / Teco Natural Resource Group and with Louisiana-Pacific Canada Ltd.
