About Peter Steiner

I currently work at the Bureau of Land Management in the Farmington Field Office. I am motivated in my pursuits by the problems that face the modern world, such as water and energy shortage, environmental degradation, and natural resource depletion. I have gained considerable interdisciplinary research experience across my education up to the graduate level working both in the field and laboratory alike. After completing my Masters degree at the University of Georgia, I worked at Tetra Tech where I gained experience working with a wide variety of clients in environmental consulting. This provided me with additional field work experience under a variety of conditions in sites across the entire Southeastern region of the United States. During my time with Tetra Tech, I became most experienced in groundwater sampling. I have collected samples manually using bailers, via low-flow sampling, and via submersible pumps. I have sampled for numerous constituents including PFAS. Additionally, I was responsible for the usage of ArcGIS to create maps for internal use and reports to clients for the Atlanta office. By bringing my familiarity with the software to that office, I allowed the office to shift its workflow to make use of these skills. In bringing my skills to the Four Corners region as part of the Farmington Field Office, I hope to help local communities make the fullest use of federal BLM lands.
