Background
About Peter Strickland
Dedicated and motivated Chief Marketing Officer with 25+ years experience in various aspects of the music industry including artist placement, promotions and advertising, and project management. Background includes expertise providing strategic vision, dynamic leadership, managing complex schedules, and meeting multiple deadlines under stringent time constraints. Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement. Accustomed to handling multiple and challenging responsibilities with a high level of integrity, a “can do” attitude, personal commitment, and professional demeanor. Leading the dynamic new Marathon Talent Agency after a storied career in the Warner Music organization, Peter Strickland is exactly where he was meant to be. That's because championing music isn't just a job for Strickland, it's who he is. Music was at the fore even during his formative years in New England, where he became a defacto record promoter by bringing music to a local club DJ. Subsequent gigs as a club DJ, in a record retailer warehouse and as a music buyer eventually led Strickland to the upper reaches of the music business. Quickly rising through the ranks at WEA Distribution, Strickland jumped at a regional sales posting for Warner Bros. in Nashville. He dove into marketing for Blake Shelton and soon was directing successful campaigns for Big & Rich, Faith Hill, Brett Eldredge, Hunter Hayes and more. Ultimately named Chief Marketing Officer for Warner Music Nashville. During his tenure, he also created and grew the label's comedy offerings into a profit center while elevating the careers of Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Larry The Cable Guy and others. He also shepherded Jimmy Fallon's Grammy winning comedy album Blow Your Pants Off. Strickland chose an entrepreneurial path in 2018 with the creation of Marathon."Bringing something I believe in from zero to the top is my greatest passion," he says."And, really, that's always been true."
