About Peter Terwiesch

There couldn't be a better time to be President of ABB’s Process Automation business, working at the forefront of the Energy Transition and the 4th Industrial Revolution. I’m a firm believer in the power and potential of automation, electrification and digitalization technologies to help businesses on their journey to become safer, smarter and more sustainable – and especially now, to support our customers throughout their recovery from the pandemic. ​ I've worked for ABB for 26 years. Before becoming President of ABB Process Automation in 2015, I held a number of roles at the company. I lead the company’s Central Europe region from 2011 – 2014 and was CTO from 2005 – 2011, amongst other. ​ ​ I'm an engineer at heart, having studied Electrical Engineering in Karlsruhe and Strasbourg, and attained my PhD from ETA Zurich. I’m an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s General Manager Program and a Fellow of IFAC – the International Federation of Automatic Control. ​ ​ I’m inspired by the people I work with all over the world – whether it’s my colleagues in Process Automation, our customers or partners – and the positive impact we have together. I truly believe in the difference we can make in Process Automation, for our customers, industry and society at large. ​
