About Peter Tokor

I’m Peter Tokor, co-founder and CEO of Phundit. My friends call me Pryme. We’ve developed a mobile app that helps young professionals and university students in Ghana invest in mutual funds and manage their money more effectively with the help of Zoe, our AI-powered financial assistant. Career Highlights: • I started Phundit in 2021, making several mistakes and learning from them along the way. • In 2022, I led our team to build a budgeting app. It failed, and the lessons were clear: building in isolation isn’t the way; customer discovery is key. Feedback from close friends and family might not always be the best; it’s crucial to go out and talk to your real user base. • In October 2023, I led my team to join the Founders Institute for mentorship and strategic guidance. Whiles in FI, we conducted a survey with over participants and spoke to more than 100 people, gathering relevant feedback to continue building Phundit. • Post-FI, I went full-time, led my team to incorporate Phundit, partnered with two prominent asset management firms in Ghana, built our MVP, and secured over in credits from Google and Microsoft. • Now in the final stages of finalizing all regulatory compliance as we prepare to go to market in Q1 2025. What I Do Best: • I explain tough financial concepts in ways that are easy to understand and use. I have spoken to over people at university events and on online platforms about financial literacy. • My leadership encourages our team to think creatively, act effectively, and stick together even when things get tough. Trust me, we’ve had our share of challenges. A Few Things That Set Me Apart: • Named a Forbes BLK fellow for my work in fintech, recognizing my impact on the industry. • I speak five local dialects, which not only helps connect with potential users but also breaks the ice when I lead with a language native to them.
