About Peter Townley

My name is Peter Townley, a student at Rice University in the class of 2024 majoring in Sport Management & Business with a minor in history. I have a lifelong dream of working in sports. I grew up in Huntington, NY, and attended Chaminade High School. I served as captain of the Speech & Debate team, Latin Club President, and Eucharistic Minister. I graduated with a 99/100 GPA and received awards as a National Merit Scholarship Finalist and AP Scholar. Outside of my classes, I earned the rank of Eagle Scout in Troop 78 and was elected by my peers as Senior Patrol Leader. At Rice, I managed social media accounts for the Rotary Lombardi Award, creating a local and national brand presence for the award. I worked for Professional Sports Partners, the largest private sports marketing firm in Houston, in the Summer of 2022, where I synthesized media activation spreadsheets, brainstormed sponsorship ideas for clients, and assisted in undercover event management. I worked on projects for clients including the Houston Astros, Denver Broncos, Manchester United, and MSG Networks. In the Summer of 2023, I traveled to Sligo County in rural Ireland to work for the Sligo Rovers Football Club. I contributed to the day-to-day operations of the club by creating sponsorship pitch decks, tracking activation opportunities, setting up for match day, managing merchandise inventory, and maintaining positive relationships with diehard local fans. I also believe in the importance of opportunity in education. During the lockdowns in 2020, I collaborated with my friend to create our own business as college essay consultants for rising high school seniors. Networking among local families, I recruited clients, taught high-level personal writing & communication skills, and managed relations with students & parents. Our process produced results, as all of our clients received acceptances into at least one of their top three universities. I have continued my interest in education by tutoring for the Huntington Learning Center since June 2022, teaching English and math skills to Houston-area students.
