About Peter Velling

Dr. Peter Velling was born in 1971 in Oberhausen. He studied electrical engineering at University Duisburg-Essen and received his Diploma in 1995 followed by his PhD in 2002 which was awarded by the VDE organization of North-Rhine-Westfalia and and the Gerhard Mercator prize for the best PhD study of the year. He Co-founded the start up IPAG for development and production of InP based pin-diodes up to 80 GHz and opto-electronic Travelling-Wave Amplifier (TWA) up to 45 Gb/s. He also Co-founded the step AG, Duisburg, focusing on specialized treatments for contaminated waste materials, where is actually supports as the chairman of the board. After working in the patent field he joined the company Lenord+Bauer as a product manager. He worked in different positions in development of GMR based sensors, MiniCODER, embedded controls and sensor integrated drives, SeGMo. Finally he lead the corresponding business unit. In this position he also headed an international sales team in the branches of wind power, packaging and machine tool industry. Following the international growth strategy he was the founding president of the US-subsidiary. As a result of these persuits he was designated as CTO to support the international sales network and strategic business development.
