About Peter W Peters
Since 2015 I have joined with other members of the Rochester community in looking for ways to serve men and women experiencing chronic homelessness. We began in 2015 by opening a winter shelter for approximately 50 guests. Apart from 2020 due to COVID, we have offered shelter each year and each year we succeed in placing more that 40% of our guests into some form of permanent shelter. In 2019 we became REACH Advocacy Inc. becoming a recognized non-profit organization. Our mission is now supported by three teams: Shelter - offering emergency winter shelter; Tiny Homes - planning on building a village of tiny homes offering supportive services to the residents. Ground breaking is planned for 2023; Advocacy - working on changing the narrative around housing so that housing is viewed as a human right.
