Over 12 years principal investing experience as a senior executive leading a team focused on special investment opportunities including stressed, non-performing and property related opportunities with a strong focus on the credit industry. I have deep commercial experience, sound judgement, strong communication and interpersonal skills. I have a track record of building relationships with key stakeholders including funders, high net worth and institutional investors, investment committees and boards of directors. In my investing role I have served on both investment committees and advisory boards. My commercial judgement is centred on many years of investing capital where pricing and risk management have always been closely linked to ensure that we protected against capital loss. I have worked in South Africa, the United Kingdom as well as other jurisdictions. My industry experience traverses financial services (including credit sector), consumer, retail, mining, construction, real estate, hospitality. My transactional experience is significant and spans across all aspects of the deal cycle from deal origination to negotiation, execution, pricing and due diligence. It also includes experience in building portfolios, realising asset returns, and the operational integration and transition of people, processes and systems (to ensure an orderly transition thereby protecting asset value). I have led a highly experienced team comprising banking professionals and analysts. My investing experience has required regular engagement with executives at the C-suite level in banks and across a multitude of industries as well as key stakeholders including investors (such as the IFC, World Bank), high net worth individuals and regulators. I have significant experience presenting investment deals at both an investment committee and board of director level. In addition to the principal investing experience, I have been the lead director on numerous special purpose engagements including business acquisitions, independent business reviews (IBRs), capital raising including establishment of private equity vehicles, credit process reviews, operational reviews including profit and cash flow assessments.
